Ministry of Earth Sciences Hosts National Media Interaction on 'Mission Mausam' The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) held a national-level media interaction on the ambitious Mission Mausam at Prithvi Bhavan, New Delhi. The session was led by Dr. M Ravichandran, Secretary of MoES, alongside Dr. Mritunjay Mohapatra, Director General of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), and Dr. V.S. Prasad, Head of the National Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF). Approved by the Union Cabinet on September 11, 2024, with a budget of ₹2,000 crores over two years, Mission Mausam aims to transform India into a "Weather-Ready" and "Climate-Smart" nation. The mission focuses on advancing the country's weather and climate observation, modeling, and forecasting capabilities, to provide more accurate and timely services. DRDO Completes Initial Developmental Field Firing Trials of 'Zorawar' Light Tank

On September 13, 2024, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the preliminary automotive trials of the Indian light tank, Zorawar. This versatile tank, designed for high-altitude deployment, showcased exceptional performance in desert terrain trials, meeting all intended objectives, including precise firing accuracy on designated targets.

Zorawar was developed by DRDO’s Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE) in collaboration with Larsen & Toubro Ltd. The project also highlighted the involvement of numerous Indian industries, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), showcasing India's growing strength in indigenous defence manufacturing.

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh praised DRDO, the Indian Army, and industry partners for this achievement, calling it a major step toward India's self-reliance in critical defence technologies. DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V Kamat also congratulated the team, celebrating the successful trials of Zorawar as a milestone in India's defence development journey.
