Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, launched the official website for the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav, a significant event celebrating the cultural and economic heritage of Northeast India. The launch took place at Sanchar Bhawan, New Delhi, marking a step towards promoting the region's potential nationally and globally.
Scheduled from December 6-8, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav highlights the eight Northeastern states Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura known collectively as the "Ashtalakshmi," symbolizing eight forms of prosperity. The newly launched website, www.ashtalakshmimahotsav.com, will provide event details, updates, and participation guidelines.
In his address, Shri Scindia emphasized the festival's role in bridging cultural and economic divides, fostering new opportunities for artisans, weavers, and entrepreneurs from the Northeast. The event will feature dedicated pavilions for Muga and Eri Silk, GI products, live craft demonstrations, a Fashion Show, Design Conclave, Buyer-Seller Meets, and an Investment Round Table, aiming to create long-term economic impacts.
