Mission Mausam Launched: A ₹2,000 Crore Push to Boost India's Weather and Climate Forecasts by 2026

Ministry of Earth Sciences Hosts National Media Interaction on 'Mission Mausam' The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) held a national-level media interaction on the ambitious Mission Mausam at Prithvi Bhavan, New Delhi. The session was led by Dr. M Ravichandran, Secretary of MoES, alongside Dr. Mritunjay Mohapatra, Director General of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), and Dr. V.S. Prasad, Head of the National Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF). Approved by the Union Cabinet on September 11, 2024, with a budget of ₹2,000 crores over two years, Mission Mausam aims to transform India into a "Weather-Ready" and "Climate-Smart" nation. IICA and Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) Team Up with Defence Ministry to Certify Senior Officers as Independent Directors

 The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), in collaboration with the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) and the Ministry of Defence, proudly launched its pioneering certification program for defence officers today at the IICA Campus in Manesar, Gurugram.

This groundbreaking two-week program features 30 senior officers both serving and recently retired from all three branches of the armed forces, including Air Vice Marshals, Major Generals, and Rear Admirals. The program will conclude with a certification ceremony on August 31, 2024.

In her keynote address, Ms. Monica Agrawal, Managing Director of Financial Services at Korn Ferry and the guest of honor, underscored the critical role of the board in corporate governance. She discussed the evolving challenges boards face and the essential contributions expected from Independent Directors. Ms. Agrawal advocated for leveraging the strategic and leadership skills of defence officers within corporate boards, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach to harness talent and manage risks effectively.

Program Director Dr. Niraj Gupta, Head of the School of Corporate Governance and Nodal Officer of the Independent Director’s Databank, provided a thematic overview, exploring the intersections and distinctions between public, military, and corporate governance. He highlighted IICA’s role as a catalyst for best practices and capacity building in corporate governance.

The program is designed to equip participants with a thorough understanding of corporate governance, focusing on the roles and responsibilities of Independent Directors. The officers, eager to expand their knowledge, expressed enthusiasm for applying their skills to contribute to the growth of Indian corporations and the nation.

Col. Amandeep Singh Puri, Chief Administrative Officer of IICA, welcomed the participants and introduced the program's framework. Dr. Anindita Chakrabarti, Principal Research Associate at IICA, led the program’s proceedings, supported by facilitators Mr. Mathew John, Mr. Asheesh Singh, and Mr. Manoj Singh.
