Ministry of Earth Sciences Hosts National Media Interaction on 'Mission Mausam' The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) held a national-level media interaction on the ambitious Mission Mausam at Prithvi Bhavan, New Delhi. The session was led by Dr. M Ravichandran, Secretary of MoES, alongside Dr. Mritunjay Mohapatra, Director General of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), and Dr. V.S. Prasad, Head of the National Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF). Approved by the Union Cabinet on September 11, 2024, with a budget of ₹2,000 crores over two years, Mission Mausam aims to transform India into a "Weather-Ready" and "Climate-Smart" nation. GAIL and Petron Sign MoU to Explore Establishing a Bio-Ethylene Plant in India

GAIL (India) Limited has teamed up with Petron Scientech Inc. (Petron) to explore the development of a groundbreaking 500 Kilo Tons per Annum (KTA) bio-ethylene plant in India. This ambitious project, a 50:50 joint venture, will focus on producing bio-ethylene from bioethanol, marking a significant step toward sustainable industrial practices in the country.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Sumit Kishore, Executive Director (Business Development and Exploration & Production) at GAIL, and Yogi Sarin, CEO of Petron, in the presence of GAIL's Director of Business Development, Shri Rajeev Kumar Singhal.

Under the MoU, GAIL and Petron will collaborate on feasibility studies to assess both the technical and financial viability of the project. The goal is to secure investment approvals from their respective management teams and form a joint venture company to bring this innovative project to life.

Rajeev Kumar Singhal emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, "GAIL is proud to be at the forefront of India's clean energy infrastructure. This partnership with Petron, a leader in bio-ethanol to bio-ethylene technology, represents a major step forward in promoting sustainable practices and advancing India's bio-economy. Together, our combined expertise will not only drive technological innovation but also contribute to economic growth and environmental sustainability."

This partnership symbolizes a commitment to sustainable development, positioning India as a leader in the global shift toward greener technologies.
