Union Minister of Women and Child Development Launches She-Box to Promote Safer Work Environments for Women
Empowering Women in the Workplace: New SHe-Box Portal Launched
In a pivotal move to combat workplace sexual harassment, the Ministry of Women and Child Development has unveiled the SHe-Box portal under the guidance of Union Minister Smt. Annpurna Devi. The launch event took place in New Delhi today, marking a significant advancement in the fight for a safer working environment for women. Alongside the SHe-Box portal, the Minister also introduced the Ministry’s revamped website, aimed at enhancing digital engagement and accessibility.
The newly launched SHe-Box portal serves as a comprehensive, centralized platform designed to streamline the reporting and management of sexual harassment complaints. This innovative tool will integrate information on Internal Committees (ICs) and Local Committees (LCs) across both government and private sectors, allowing users to file complaints, monitor their progress, and receive timely updates. With real-time tracking and assured redressal, the portal ensures that every complaint is handled with the utmost seriousness and efficiency.
The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s broader vision for a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047, as championed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This vision underscores the importance of women’s leadership in fostering inclusive economic growth. A key element in this strategy is ensuring that workplaces are not only welcoming but also secure, allowing women to excel without fear.
The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013, underpins this commitment, and the SHe-Box portal marks a significant leap in addressing and resolving workplace grievances. By providing a secure, efficient channel for complaints, the portal supports the broader goal of a safe and inclusive work environment for all women.
Additionally, the Ministry’s new website is designed to enhance its digital presence and engagement with both national and international audiences. As digital communication becomes increasingly vital, a strong online presence is essential for effective interaction with the public.
At the launch, Smt. Annpurna Devi emphasized, “This initiative represents a major step forward in creating a more efficient and secure platform for addressing sexual harassment complaints. It underscores our commitment to ensuring that women across India can work in a safe and inclusive environment.” She assured that the portal is designed with robust privacy measures to protect users’ personal information.
Both the SHe-Box portal and the new Ministry website are now live and accessible at SHe-Box Portal and Ministry Website, respectively.
