Shri Piyush Goyal Calls for Global Coalition Against Terrorism at US-India Business Council’s AGM
In a powerful keynote address at the US-India Business Council’s (USIBC) 49th Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, highlighted the critical collaboration between India and the United States to advance self-reliance in critical minerals, strengthen supply chains, and adopt cutting-edge technologies.
Emphasizing the Fight Against Terrorism
On the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, Shri Goyal paid tribute to the victims and used the occasion to underscore the ongoing global threat of terrorism. He reflected on how the tragedy of 9/11 serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by terrorism and the need for a unified global response.
India, he noted, has long been a victim of terrorism originating from across its borders and has endured numerous acts of violence and propaganda. Shri Goyal called for a strong global coalition against terrorism, emphasizing that such heinous acts highlight the necessity for solidarity among nations committed to peace and security.
Reinforcing Strategic Partnerships
Shri Goyal reiterated the commitment of the Indian government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to the principles of ‘Reform-Perform-Transform’. He explained how ongoing reforms are designed to enhance national performance and transform the lives of Indian citizens. He urged the attendees to share their positive experiences of working with India, promoting the nation's reforms and achievements on the global stage.
The Minister highlighted the deepening strategic partnership between India and the United States, noting their shared interests in both bilateral and geopolitical arenas. He stressed that this relationship is one of the most consequential and strategic in the current global landscape.
Drawing Inspiration from History
In his address, Shri Goyal also evoked the memory of Swami Vivekananda’s iconic speech delivered in Chicago on this day in 1893. He drew parallels between Vivekananda’s message of universal tolerance, harmony, and respect for diverse cultures, and the theme of the USIBC Summit, which focuses on partnership and prosperity in the era of AI and critical technologies.
Shri Goyal concluded by asserting that collaboration and prosperity among nations are key to creating a better world. He emphasized that embracing Vivekananda’s teachings on tolerance and mutual respect will strengthen global partnerships and foster a more harmonious international community.
This address reaffirmed India’s dedication to forging robust international alliances and combating global challenges with unity and resilience.
